Youth Rowing

Girls and Boys Ages 12-18

Who: Boys and girls ages 12-18. Students from all schools (including homeschool). The Wabash Valley Crew youth rowing program is inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities. Students with no experience are welcome!

When: December through May

Where: December through March we train indoors on the erg (rowing machine) and lift weights. March through May we row on the river

What - Recreational: Have fun, learn, and grow! Recreational rowers practice 1-2 times a week. This is a great place to start if you want to learn more about rowing or just get out in a boat, but don't want to commit to the competitive schedule

What - Competitive: The competitive track is for students who want to add a more competitive aspect to their training, while still having fun. Competitive rowers (including first year rowers) practice 4-5 times a week and compete in 3-5 regattas each spring.

What - Indoor Only: We welcome athletes who may just want to join us for winter training sessions (indoors). These sessions take a full body approach, incorporating cardio, strength training, flexibility, and mental resilience. Our athletes finish the indoor season in fantastic shape and find this a great way to prepare for their spring sport, even if that isn't rowing

Cost: Please contact us for pricing detail. Scholarships are available to help us meet our mission of providing an opportunity to row for all who are interested

Adult Rowing Programming

Including College Students!

After ten years of youth programming, we are excited to offer adult rowing programing coming 2027! As we continue to develop the program, we are continuing to collect names and information of interested women and men. If that is you - please reach out to us via the Submission Form on our website. Provide your information including experience (none required!), interest level (recreational, competitive, etc.), and general availability (mornings, evenings, weekends, etc). We hope you join us in this exciting next step for the Wabash Valley!

Are you a college student looking to row or start a program at your school? We are happy to help with equipment, facilities, and coaching! We have had rowers and teams from St. Mary's of the Woods and Rose-Hulman previously. Reach out to get started!

Open Rows

Throughout the summer and fall, we welcome adults and youth to join us for a morning of rowing! These events welcome experienced rowers and provide basic instructions for newcomers as well. Note - if you really want to learn more about rowing in a more intentional way, check out our Learn to Row events instead. We provide the equipment and coaching as needed, just show up to join the fun! These typically take place on Saturday mornings and attendance includes current WVC athletes and alums, experienced adult rowers in the Wabash Valley, and newcomers looking to enjoy a day on the water. Check out our Facebook page for the latest dates and to RSVP.

Learn to Row

We offer learn to row programs for rowers to attend and learn more about the sport in a more meaningful way than our open rows. These are a great opportunity to get in a boat without needing to commit to a season. Reach out to us for more details!
